many of your
"President's Day" Theme needs!

Wind Socks
Use red, white or blue construction paper and roll it length wise. Glue, tape or staple together.
Add string as a handle to one end. Add red, white and blue streamers to the other end.
Flags
Start with white construction paper. Children glue on red strips, to make red and white stripes.
Then glue a blue square in the top left corner. For the stars you can use white tissue paper, crumpled up, or star stickers.
Paper Plate Penny
Copy words from penny onto a small paper plate. Give each kid a penny and draw pictures and
color to match. Can use picture of Lincoln.
President Silhouette
I take a piece of 9x13 white construction paper. Then the students tear red and blue construction
paper into small pieces to cover the entire page. Then we
add a silhouette of either Lincoln or Washington.
Bubble Blowings
Mix dish detergent, water, and tempura paint in three bowls. Make one bowl red, and one blue. Have
the children dip bubble blowing sticks in the bowls and they will blow the blue and red bubbles on a white sheet of paper. It
looks neat to see all different creations.
Patriotic Playdoh
Set out red, white and blue playdoh and let the children's imaginations run wild.
Red, White, and Blue
Place red, white or blue colored water in the sensory table with pitchers, measuring cups and other
containers to allow the children to experience measurement
Lincoln Cabin
When talking about Lincoln, gather many sticks from outside and let the children glue them onto paper
to make log cabins. The kids can get very creative with this. They can add saran wrap for windows or any other decorations.
Coin Sorting
Although it is very simple, children also enjoy sorting, counting, and stacking pennies and quarters.
Heads or Tails?
For Presidents Day, make a graph with 2 columns, heads and tails. Give each child a penny or quarter
and let them toss it. Record by coloring a square each time the penny or quarter lands on a tails or a heads. The first column that fills up is the winner.
